Summary:  This is a special extended 1.5 hour show. We discuss the soon-to-be released documentary, "Split Estate," with the filmmaker, Debra Anderson. We play excerpts from DemocracyNow.org (aired 3 Sept. 2009) about the devastating effects of Oil and Gas Industry extraction in the U.S. We learn about the basics of hydraulic fracturing and its potential for contaminating local water supplies. Mora County is under threat, and San Miguel County is also at risk. The Santa Fe County ordinance is referenced as one strategy for local protection. Educating ourselves and our county commissioners is emphasized, and working together across counties is strongly encouraged so as to protect the people, land, and water of this region for current and future generations.
