Community Peace Radio - Carol Miller (Health Justice/Health Care)

Community Peace Radio Show #48

Date: 10 October 2009

Topic: Health Justice, Health Care Reform

Participant: Carol Miller

Co-Hosts: Pat Leahan, Curtis Sollohub, Dennis Lopez

Summary: Carol Miller is a well-known public health advocate. She has lived in a frontier mountain village in northern NM for several decades, and is founder and current Executive Director of the National Center for Frontier Communities. She is a Commissioner of the Acequia de Ojo Sarco. She has an exemplary background in health justice, and talks with us today about what we need to do at the state and federal levels to bring health justice for all. The reasoning and statistics she provides make the case for why we need single-payer and preventive health care. We're glad to have Carol with us for today's show, and are grateful for her dedication to peace; human rights; and social, economic and health justice for all.

Pat's Extra Notes:
Thanks to Jim Terr for Carol's bio information.

Call Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, Jr. (505-454-3038 / 202-225-6190) and tell him to sign on to the letter ("single payer or no bill at all") that supports House Bill 676 (Conyers/Kucinich). We also need to garner support for Senate Bill 703.

There will be 2 local Health Care Forums:
