Community Peace Radio - International Women's Day

Community Peace Radio Show #20

Date:  07 March 2009

Topic:  International Women's Day

Participants:  Voices and music of women from around the globe; Interview with Bob and Carrol Pearson about Amnesty International's actions on International Women's Day

Co-Hosts:  Pat Leahan, Arielle Hawney

Summary:  Discussion centers around the founding and history of International Women's Day (a global day celebrating economic, political, and social achievements of women -- past, present and future -- officially recognized since 1911). We play songs by women and in support of women from around the world (e.g., Mozambique, Native America, Mexico). We then shift into a discussion of the importance of women having their civic, economic, and social rights, and how that's in the best interest of everyone. Happy Women's Day!
