Youth Radio - Graduation PDF Print

Community Peace Radio Show #30

Date:  16 May 2009

Topic:  Graduation

Co-Hosts:  Pat Leahan, Arielle Hawney

Summary:  We honor all of those who have just graduated or are about to graduate. We play songs ("Three Little Birds" and "May You Stay Forever Young"), and do some readings for the graduates, including excerpts from a commencement speech by J.K. Rowlings. The title (and essence) of her speech is: "The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination."  One of her statements we find especially important for our graduates to remember: "We do not need magic to change the world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already."

Resources:
Booklet: "After High School: Your Life, Your World, Your Future"
(This free booklet is available at the LVP&J Center and Tome on the Range bookstore. It provides career ideas, educational resources, scholarship information and much more for NM youth.)

Pat's Extra Notes:
Tri-County Farmer's Market opens today for the season. Yay!
The UWC radio ad can be heard here.
